The European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) released in October 2023 an overview of the evolving landscape of on-orbit servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (OSAM) and provide policy recommendations for the future of European ambition in this field. The report provides an overview of the current OSAM market, emphasizing the changes that took place over the past three years and the issues that remain, including parameters that affect OSAM's development. It includes insights on private investments in European OSAM companies based on ESPI's Space Venture proprietary database. The complete report can be found attached.

On the 18th of October the DG DEFIS with the support of STARS EU organized a workshop on "Skills for an innovative EU space ecosystem" in Brussels. The presentations were followed by brainstorming sessions on "The way forward - future priorities for a thriving EU space ecosystem". The discussions revealed gaps & challenges, opportunities & potential future actions, as well as further considerations on lessons learnt and best practices.
