Unmanned Aerial Systems: civilian applications and technology challenges

Politecnico di Torino and EASN have successfully organized, on November 9th and 10th in Torino, a workshop on "Unmanned Aerial Systems: civilian applications and technology challenges".

The workshop was coordinated and chaired by prof. Fulvia Quagliotti from the Aerospace Engineering department of Politecnico di Torino. The event was supported by Politecnico di Torino, EASN, Selex Galileo, Regione Piemonte, Fondo Europeo di Sviluppo Regionale - SMAT F1 Piemonte Regional Project, Ordine degli Ingegneri Provincia di Torino.

During the two-day workshop, fifteen presentations were given, covering a large number of topics on Unmanned Aerial Systems. The presentations were followed by an animated discussion. A number of the presentations are available in the attached file.

The first day's welcome address was given be the Deputy Rector of Politecnico di Torino (now rector), Professor Marco Gilli, whereas on the second day of the workshop, the welcome speech delivered by the President of EASN, Professor Spiros Pantelakis.

Due the attractive topic of the workshop the turnout was great, with ninety participants in total. The workshop proved to be an excellent opportunity to bring together different experiences and ideal occasion to exchange opinions on the results obtained.
