  • PADICTON project has reached an important milestone as distortion prediction is being validated using simple geometry verification prints. Simple parts have been printed in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and a high fidelity simulation methodology which has been developed is being used to predict and act upon expected deformations.

TWI is coordinating this public funded project as part of the Clean Sky initiative under GA 864819. The project includes topic manager Airbus and consortium; Brunel University London, FDM Digital Solutions and e-Xstream.

  • The manufacturing plan of the innovative composite nose part (CNP) of D-JOINTS project has been finalised. The innovative CNP will have three main characteristics which will enhance the lightning strike protection, namely, no copper mesh, it will be thermally sprayed based on a patented technology from TWI Ltd and will have specific joint areas tufted based on Cranfield University’s expertise. Manufacturing is expected to start in June 2022

The TWI coordinated project is funded as part of the Clean Sky initiative under GA 887042. The collaborative consortium also includes Topic Manager Evektor, Cranfield University and Brunel University London.
