The first EASN Newsletter for 2019 is now published.
This edition includes updates on the recent undertakings of the European Aeronautical community, as well as on some of the topmost upcoming news and events.

Initially, in this issue you may find the Joint Position Paper of the Aeronautics Stakeholders with regards to the HORIZON Europe. EASN (European Aeronautics Science Network), EREA (Association of  European Research Establishments in Aeronautics) and ASD (AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe), are proposing a joint approach in order to foster coherence and coordination of Research and Innovation actions across the aeronautics sector. This joint Position Paper is accompanied by short interviews of Dr. Jan Pie, Secretary General of ASD, Dr. Catalin Nae, EREA Chairman and Prof. Spiros Pantelakis, EASN Chairman who give some more specific views of the stakeholders.

In the same time, in this issue, you will have the opportunity to learn about the role of the National Contact Points (NCP) of the EASN Association and the distinguished colleagues who will act as members of the EASN NCP Team. This team is composed by:

We would like also to draw your attention to the upcoming 9th EASN International Conference on Innovation in Aviation & Space to be held from September 3rd to September 6th, 2019, in Athens, Greece. In particular, we are pleased to inform you that more than 45 sessions and a number of about 15 projects have already confirmed their participation.

In addition, updates regarding accredited key-note speakers are included in the respective article regarding the upcoming "Continuous Professional Development (CDP)" seminar on the topic: "Bonded Composite Repair of Aircraft Structures: Contemporary Challenges and Latest Innovations" which will be held in Paris, France from 18th  to 20th  June, 2019, co-organized by the EASN Association and GMI Aero.

Last but not least, this first edition of the EASN Newsletter 2019 contains a very stimulating interview of Dr. Andreas Strohmayer, Professor for Aircraft Design at University of Stuttgart and Member of the Board of Directors of EASN, concerning the effort of the EASN Association so as to support the research activities of European Academia in the field of aeronautics in order to incubate technological innovation and to disseminate knowledge.

Finally, the current issue holds a series of other engaging topics including the latest achievements and results of several EU-funded research projects and members of the EASN Association.
