GRAIN2 Open Workshop on "Greening Aviation - A Global Challenge"

GRAIN2 Open Workshop on

February 17th, 2015

5-8 May, 2015, ACTRI, Xi`an (China)

The GRAIN2 project is co-founded by European Commission (EC) and China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The objective is to bring both Chinese and European scientists together to identify and assess the future development of greener technologies for reaching the ambitious environmental goals of European's Vision for Aviation "Flight path 2050" and China's Midterm Development Strategy. For this project, four Key Greener Technology (KGTs) areas have been defined as main important research fields of the project, including propulsion and alternative fuels related to greener technologies (e.g., new concept propulsion systems, combustion techniques for greener engines, fuel cell systems), flight physics related greener technologies (e.g., techniques for low drag, low controllability and low noise), environmental friendly materials and structures (e.g., new bio-sourced materials, composite technologies, metal alloys, and surface coatings), and Advanced CNS (Communication Navigation systems)/ATM for greener air transport (e.g., flight operation systems, low emission techniques of aviation ground infrastructure).

The main objective of the GRAIN2 event is to provide inputs and contributions to technology roadmaps for greening aviation providing a future better environmental impact achieved by the reduction of aviation emissions, fuel consumption, perceived noise and improved air operations and traffic management.
